Touted as the world’s first “comprehensively certified” vehicle in the VR9 resistance class, Mercedes-Benz unveils the S600 Guard. This armored luxury sedan features a specially-developed steel built into the cavities between its body structure and outer skin, which is strengthened by tough aramide fibers and polyethylene components for additional splinter protection. All glass areas are coated with polycarbonate on the inside with a special laminated construction. Bonus points include a panic alarm system, opaque roller blinds, an emergency fresh air system, hydraulic slide windows, gimbal rear LED reading lamps, a special rear cooling compartment, and heated windscreen and side windows. Lastly, not only does the S600 Guard look identical to its standard version, it also features the same v12 6.0-liter twin-turbo engine.
