Damien Hirst to Build His Own Town in North Devon

Dubbed The Southern Extension, acclaimed contemporary artist Damien Hirst is set to build his own town in North Devon, England. According to the North Devon Journal, Hirst has been granted permission to construct an eco town in the seaside resort of Ilfracombe. Taking place across 187 acres, the project will erect 750 homes, a primary school, shops, medical buildings, sports facilities and allotments. Hirst already has a studio, a restaurant, and other properties which include Verity – a 65-foot-tall bronze statue of a naked woman — in Illfracomb, with this new venture adding to his expanding realm.
