British filmographer Shaun Bloodworth has teamed up with Steel Stories to produce “The Putter,” a short film that documents Cliff Denton, who is literally a “putter-togetherer of scissors.” Coinciding with the centenary of the invention of stainless steel, the film presents a vivid portrait of the longstanding craft of scissor making. Filmed at Sheffield’s Ernest Wright & Sons, we see Denton undertake the meticulous process of heating and shaping the alloy before assembling the blades to make the perfect functional shears. Check out the short film here and head to Ernest Wright & Sons’ webpage for more on the heritage manufacturer.
