No new name to hip-hop, Eminem is now the first artist to receive two RIAA Digital Single Diamond Awards. Slim Shady’s “Not Afraid” and multi-platinum single “Love the Way You Lie” from 2010 album Recovery has sold 4.5 million copies in the U.S. and more than 10 million worldwide. On the milestone, RIAA chairman/CEO Cary Sherman said:
“We are delighted to recognize Eminem as the first artist to earn two RIAA Digital Diamond Awards. This singular achievement – earning a Diamond Award on two separate digital songs – is unparalleled, and we congratulate him on forever etching a mark in Gold & Platinum Program history.”
Two Diamond song honors aside, Eminem has also racked up two 10x multi-Plationum Diamond certified albums: 2000’s The Marshall Mathers album and 2002’s The Eminem Show, both released on his Aftermath imprint. With more than 37 million albums sold in the U.S, such accolades place Eminem at 44 on the all-time RIAA “Top Selling Artists” list. Head to iTunes to purchase Recovery now.
