RHCP's Chad Smith & Will Ferrell to Engage in Drum-Off

For a while now, Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith and Will Ferrell‘s stark resemblances to one another have cast both as the punchlines to a myriad of jokes, and have caused each to jokingly jab at one another. Now, the two have decided to have a “drum-off” on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to “settle who’s the best drummer once and for all” and “see who the real Chad Smith is.”

Though the “feud” is all for fun, the “winner” will receive a large golden cowbell as a trophy, and the drum-off is set to raise money for charities on a later date. The two plan for prizes — such as unique T-shirts & cowbells — to be given out to raise money for the charity organizations Cancer for College and Little Kids Rock. When speaking to Rolling Stone about the battle, Will Ferrell had this to say:

“It may be something too powerful for the audience to even handle, so it may just be an one-time event…Man only went to the moon once, right? But it could become the beginning of a rivalry that will go on until the end of time.”

The drum-off is set to air on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on May 22.
