Nike Unveils Atlético Madrid's New 2014/15 Kit
Fresh off their second-place finish in the UEFA Champions League and first La Liga championship

Fresh off their second-place finish in the UEFA Champions League and first La Liga championship since the 1995/96 campaign, Atlético Madrid and Nike have unveiled the Spanish side’s home kit for the upcoming 2014/15 campaign. A nod to the 40th anniversary of the football club’s first-ever world championship – 1975’s Intercontinental Cup – the new kit replicates the shirts worn by the 1975 squad, but sports a few modern flourishes. Now, the distinctive red and white stripes are complemented with a tonal background chevron that echoes the shape of Atlético’s club crest while a blue polo collar is paired with a V-shaped insert and matching cuffs at the sleeves. Inside the neck appears a commemorative pennant tab – a design that couples the Spanish flag with the words “Campeón del Mundo 1975” (“Champions of the World 1975”). Rounding out the look are blue shorts – adorned with a single white stripe – and chevron-emblazoned red socks.
The brand new home kit for the Atleti will be available at Atlético Madrid Official Stores, specialty stores, and Nike.com in Spain beginning June 6 before being released globally on June 26.
