We take you on a trip to the Bay Area for our latest installment of our Essentials segment. With an area that has experienced the tumultuous wave of the hyphy movement in the mid 2000s, the Bay Area has progressively been a microcosm of talented artists pushing the boundaries of music. The leader of the resurgence is none other than Sudan Williams, otherwise known as Iamsu! The Richmond, California native stays rooted with his running mates, the HBK Gang and continually provides quality hits with notable collaborations with 2 Chainz, Sage the Gemini, and Wiz Khalifa. While on the road, the 24-year-old emcee and producer keeps with him his beat making kit, Sony PlayStation 4, and his iPhone 5 with him at all times. Digging into the crates of his childhood, Iamsu! pulls inspiration from Lil Wayne’s classic, Tha Carter III album as well as keeping all his belongings in his BAPE carryall. You can catch Iamsu! on the the bill for Wiz Khalifa’s upcoming Under The Influence of Music Tour and don’t forget to cop Su’s debut album, Sincerely Yours, which dropped last week.
