BMW has taken to the latest installment of the annual Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este on the shores of Lake Como to unveil its Concept Roadster – not an open two-seater, but an uber-contemporary motorcycle. Powered by the German automaker’s signature 1170cc two-cylinder boxer engine, the bike boasts 123 horsepower and 92 lb-ft of torque while the design’s sleek spaceframe is home to a single-sided swing arm rear suspension and a cardan joint that delivers power to the rear wheel. Decidedly industrial in its aesthetic, the Roadster’s otherwise skeletal appearance is juxtaposed with a plush Alcantara-wrapped seat. Like the celebratory Concept 90 that made its way to Lake Como last year, the Concept Roadster probably won’t be hitting the streets anytime soon, but likely provides a glimpse into the future of BMW motorcycle design.
