When one thinks of the humid, gloomy brand of pop that The xx create, one probably doesn’t think those types of sounds could manifest itself in a place like Texas. But, that’s where the British indie darlings are at work, constructing the follow-up to 2012’s unbelievably-acclaimed Coexist. On both the band’s Instagram and the Young Turks account there are several photos documenting their exploits in their newfound Marfa, Texas surroundings. One photo on the Young Turks Instagram even documents a shot from the Chinati Foundation in Marfa, with the caption “LP3 recording.” Judging by all the photos, the trio is also quite fond of the West Texas city, and they’ve even posted a picture on their own Instagram of them performing a new song that they “wrote in Marfa” at a saloon in the Texas town. No official word yet on when the album is scheduled to drop.
