Mass Appeal and GrooveShark’s SXSW Takeover hosted an amazing lineup this year. With Friday night’s show consisting of the likes of FLying Lotus, Thundercat, A$AP Mob, Bishop Nehru, B.o.B, TJ Mizell, it was none other than Nas who headlined this highly energetic showcase. On the eve of the 20th anniversary of his legendary debut album Illmatic, Nasir Jones offered classics like “New York State Of Mind,” “The World Is Yours,” and “It Ain’t Hard To Tell” with DJ Green Lantern flipping the beats. As a celebration of the next generation during which Nas invited Mass Appeal recording artists Bishop Nehru and Fashawn, Boldy James, Nylo to share the stage. Flying Lotus blessed the crowd with two performances — one as his rapper alter ego Captain Murphy and another with his DJ set. B.o.B surprised the crowd bringing Future on the stage to perform, “Ready,” while A$AP Mob took over stage command right after. We were on location to capture some visual impressions from this glorious night. Check out out gallery above.
