Looks like Frank Ocean won’t be dining at Chipotle for a while. After being sued by the Mexican restaurant last week, Ocean has now responded to the lawsuit, by paying up the $212,500 he was initially paid to record his rendition of “Pure Imagination.” His lawyers claim that he was not made aware of the Chipotle branding that would be displayed in the ad, which was geared to promote local and sustainably-sourced food, while the restaurant chain says they were completely upfront with him. As a result Ocean paid the money they asked for today, and he didn’t do it quietly. Taking to his Tumblr, he shared a photograph of the cashier’s check made out to the food chain, where he also left a memo which read, “Fuck Off.” He also shared a link to the Wikipedia page for “defamation” in an earlier post, which we can also safely assume was aimed towards the lawsuit. You can see the image of the check for yourself down below. Let us know what you think about the situation, and if you agree with how he handled it.
