A ubiquitous debate between Real Madrid‘s superstar duo, Xabi Alonso and Cristiano Ronaldo, was sparked during a training session prior to Los Blancos’ clash with Athletic Bilbao – which ended in a 1-1 draw. In the above snippet, the 2013 FIFA Ballon d’Or winner questions the playmaker’s loyalty to the German athletic apparel and equipment maker by asking “how can you compare adidas to Nike?” Alonso responds with a witty jab, “adidas is history. Nike are basketball shoes.” The head-to-head exchange continues with CR7 boasting, “These boots are top… for a top player” to which Alonso shoots down with “they are plastic. Madrid is adidas. adidas is 70 years in football, not like Nike who have been around three days.” Check out the video above and let us know which brand you think is better in the comments below.
