Music Essentials: Jerome LOL
Los Angeles via Montreal producers LOL Boys came to fruition after Jerome Potter and Markus Garcia

Los Angeles via Montreal producers LOL Boys came to fruition after Jerome Potter and Markus Garcia met on a music message board. While the group’s first productions came as remixes, their discerning approach soon led to a slew of party anthems, with the debut of the Changes EP via Friends of Friends. While LOL Boys fell into hiatus in 2012, Potter continue his foray in dance music as Jerome LOL and runs the LA-based record label Body High. With a number of releases from the likes of Todd Edwards, Jim-E-Stack, Myrryrs and Floyd Campell, the label provides another platform for Potter to flaunt his style over whimsical electro tunes and kaleidoscopic record sleeves. In between recent promotion runs for his Deleted/ Fools EP and spinning alongside those who frequent LA’s Low End Theory and alternative club circuit, Potter shared with us his Music Essentials. Doing little to shy away from his penchant for color and smiley faces, Body High stickers are placed next to a colorful handmade pouch from Sri Lanka. While digital essentials like the MacBook, audio interface and hard drive are prevalent, a Friends of Friends cap lends a hand on “bad hair days” while a Japanese Starbucks receipt and a photo from loved ones provide tokens of inspiration and also act as a reminder that hard work pays off.
