Following his Super Bowl performance alongside the Red Hot Chilli Peppers this weekend (head here to watch) it looks like Bruno Mars is feeling more than congratulations and praise for his halftime show, because the Hawaiian artist has since seen his Unorthodox Jukebox album sales rise by almost 200%. Shifting from 15,000 album sales to 40,000 within a week, Unorthodox Jukebox sales have increased exactly 164%, opening possibilities for the album to re-enter Billboard’s top 200 chart and marking the best sales since its peak in March of last year. Although this isn’t the first time an artist has seen album sales increase after taking the stage at halftime (after her Super Bowl performance in 2013, Beyonce also saw album sales of her 2011 project 4 increase by 123%) what did come as a surprise to many was the decision to feature Mars as the halftime performer, as the slot has largely been reserved for artists with a significantly larger catalog of albums and songs since Michael Jackson’s performance in 1993, while Mars has currently released two albums – last year’s Unorthodox Jukebox and Doo-Wops & Hooligans from 2010 - so far.
