Among the many eccentric dining options of Korean cuisine, none comes as taboo and controversial to foreigners as the art of eating a live octopus. Vice recently headed over to Seoul as part of its food-centric MUNCHIES series to visit Jongno Octopus where Head Chef Kim Sang Jin shows viewers the proper way to eat and serve live octopus. Freshly caught and locally sourced, the octopus is washed and drained by Chef Kim as he cuts the tentacles into small bite-sized pieces. A dash of garlic, chili, and sesame oil tops the dish as it makes its way out to diners.
