SPACELIFE‘s limited edition jacket is probably the closest thing we’ll get to an astronaut suit practical for personal use without emptying our savings for some replica that can really only be worn at a costume party of some sort.
The Dutch label’s debut piece–unveiled in anticipation of a full collection set to launch next winter–palpably draws design inspiration from a classic white spacesuit, which comes crafted with detailed Mars interplanetary travel-themed embroidery and an aluminum port for that little extra something. While the jacket does nothing against the harsh, unforgiving conditions of outer space, it does offer protection from extreme environments on Earth. The exterior is constructed from highly durable trilobal fiber for warmth and water-resistance should the weather be anything but pleasant. The material itself is light reflective as well, which means you’ll remain safe and visible when you’re out at night.
For the tech-obsessed, the hood is equipped with built-in speakers that can be controlled either through Bluetooth or an integrated remote located on the left sleeve which also conveniently controls your phone. And just for fun, an ambassadors kit containing space-inspired accessories does come along with the purchase.
The jacket is currently available for pre-order at €1499 (approximately $1,876 USD), but don’t expect delivery until September 2015.
