Long Beach’s prodigal son NameBrand has dropped his new mixtape, G.R.E.A.T. Tape II. The project has been supported by stellar singles such as “Whips” and the BJ The Chicago Kid-assisted “I Don’t Wanna Know,” the former of which received the video treatment. California all-stars such as Willie B and Thurz make appearances and Sha Money XL serves as the project’s executive producer, but this 15-track offering is all about NameBrand’s no-nonsense, sharp-as-steel abilities as a lyricist and songwriter. This is classic hip-hop; just strong, masterful lyricism and well-constructed, well-paired beats. If he continues to build up his profile like this, NameBrand will join the likes of TDE and YG as one of the West Coast’s best musical exports.
