Director of District 9, Neill Blomkamp Releases Trailer for His New Film Chappie

From Neill Blomkamp, the director of cinematic successes District 9 and Elysium, comes this trailer for another sci-fi film about a robot with the mind of a child who can think and feel. Titled Chappie, the trailer does not reveal much about the plot although we can ascertain that Chappie is created by a scientist who is taken in by two social outcasts, while being pursued by a governmental figure who is opposed to the development of artificial intelligence. Boasting a star-studded cast of Dev Patel, Hugh Jackman, Sigourney Weaver and South African rap duo Die Antwoord, frequent Blomkamp collaborator Sharlto Copley is also set to play the eponymous robot. Set to release in 2015, Chappie looks to be a promising and heartwarming film, at least more than Blomkamp’s two previous ventures. In the meantime, enjoy the trailer above.
