In this new interview with Rolling Stone, the co-producer of Kanye’s “New Slaves,” Benjamin Bronfman reveals how the track first came to life. It all took place about two years ago during the fall of 2012 recalls Benjamin Bronfman, when the producer received a call from Kanye West who was looking for beats stating “Yo, what do you got?” From there, his music collective, Teachers, got busy and came up with a few tracks for Ye’ to check out, one of which was this dark, ghostly synth ensemble originally titled “Cruel Cold Winter” that eventually became the basis for “New Slaves.” That of course ended up being the lead single to Kanye’s triumphant Yeezus album.
