Last year’s Coin announcement and the forthcoming launch of Apple Pay have pointed to a complicated payments arena in the past couple of months, although we’ve yet to see either manifest at this point. Though Apple Pay is posited as the ‘future’ of NFC (near-field communication) payments, Plastc looks to thrive in the physical card market. Amongst the card’s myriad nifty features is the ability to store information of up to 20 cards and barcodes (all of which must be in your name), with users able to ‘swipe’ through them on an e-ink embed. Thinking ahead, the card will also host an EMV chip for added security, its own NFC function, on-screen balance indicators, and even a remote-wiping ability.
