Fledgling New York label Tim Coppens looks to ’70s racing attire for its 2014 spring/summer collection. Building upon a cohesion of athletic designs and retro sensibilities, the collection lends cue from racing suits via its slim-cut fits, while luxe materials are used alongside leather, mesh and nylon to craft the bomber jacket, varsity jacket and parka. Color block styling is used on a number of T-shirts and sweaters, while stripes and textured patterns provide bold additions to classic button-up shirts and pleated shorts. Elsewhere, knitted designs are made reminiscent of racing flags, while the use of bronze hues on blazers and sweatpants make a nod at burnt rubber tire tracks.
