Back in 2012, SAVEMONEY emcees Joey Purp and Kami de Chukwu teamed up with then-Kids These Days drummer Stix and producer Thelonius Martin to create the song “Still Alive.” Beyond being a local sensation upon its release, the track was important for a variety of reasons. Most notably, it sparked the idea for Purp and Chukwu to collaborate on a full project (Leather Corduroys), and the term “Still Alive” has served as a mantra for the SAVEMONEY crew as a whole. That’s why despite its initial filming being cut short due to a robbery, and countless scheduling conflicts, SAVEMONEY came out in full force to make sure the music video for “Still Alive” got out to the world. Throughout the Verluxe-directed visuals you’ll see cameos from a majority of the crew’s members including a few familiar faces in Vic Mensa, Chance The Rapper and Tokyo Shawn. Watch the video above, and be on the lookout for a lot more news coming your way in 2014 from this group of young Chicagoans.
