Culling inspiration from the brand’s own “pre-punk” designs influenced by the early ’70s, Japan’s PEEL & LIFT has joined streetwear godfather Hiroshi Fujiwara and fragment design for an early 2014 capsule collection. Dominated by blue and red, the range includes a bold plaid jacket, matching trousers and two button-downs emblazoned with a “Dangerously Close to Love” graphic – a nod to the pioneering Malcolm McLaren – and Vivienne Westwood-run London punk boutique SEX and, more specifically, the Sex Pistols’ infamous “The Filth and The Fury” appearance on Today with host Bill Grundy in 1976. “Craftsman-made for outcasts and perverts,” the fragment design x PEEL & LIFT capsule will be available at select retailers and at a special Kit Gallery-hosted pop-up in Tokyo beginning January 11.
