In order to fully test the all-new Range Rover Sport, Britain’s Land Rover recently took the luxurious AWD SUV to the infamous “Empty Quarter” – a 650,000 km² stretch of unforgiving desert on the Arab Peninsula notorious for its arid climate, ever-shifting terrain and lack of reliable water sources. Not only did the vehicle pass the test with flying colors, but it crossed the area more quickly than any land vehicle in history, ultimately completing the challenge in 10 hours and 22 minutes with an average speed of 51.87 mph over the 528-mile distance. Enjoy a recap of the treacherous Saudi Arabian journey above.
