McLaren has entered the final stage of development for its P1 hypercar with deliveries expected
McLaren has entered the final stage of development for its P1 hypercar with deliveries expected just weeks away. To make sure the P1 will perform well beyond standards in insanely hot conditions, they put the car to the test in Arizona, California and Nevada, some of the hottest locations in North America where temperatures easily top 126 degrees Fahrenheit. Additionally, the P1 was tested not only on public roads, but also on the track where it could really be pushed to the limit. The track featured in the video is none other than California’s Willow Springs International Raceway.
The P1 features a 3.8-liter twin-turbo V8 engine and a single electric motor, allowing the car to generate 903 hp and 664 lb-ft of torque. It covers the 0 to 62 mph in under 3 seconds and is electronically limited to a max speed of 217 mph.
Limited to 375 units, the car is unfortunately almost sold out already with each unit costing £866,000 in the UK and $1,150,000 in the U.S.
