YC the Cynic - Negus

After releasing the video for “Murphy’s Law” a couple weeks ago, YC The Cynic returns with the Frank Drake-produced track “Negus.” The Bronx-based rapper revealed that the dark yet inspiring tone of this song will be heard throughout his upcoming project GNK, which is set for release on August 26. In addition to that, YC explained the following about the creative process behind “Negus”:

The song is about the empowerment of a united people. It gives a fresh sound and perspective to an old and maybe tired or preachy topic… The beat is hypnotic, the pianos are to put the listener in a trance and the hi-hats are crashing. The production dictated my emotion when writing the song and I think it comes across to anyone who listens.
