Conjuring its trademark cross-bone motifs — also interspersed on its 2013 spring/summer canvas shoe collection — Japanese fashion staple WTAPS has collaborated with Birdwell on a capsule collection for the summer months. Consisting of two different board shorts and a tote bag, the joint venture nods at WTAPS’ penchant for simplistic yet stylish riffs on cotton canvases, while Birdwell’s longstanding affair with board shorts is also furthered. Iterating Birdwell’s classic board short models, the silhouettes are tailored to knee-length and crafted with strong polyester and nylon. Meanwhile, the tote bag mirrors the minimalist designs with one pocket in the front. Made in USA, the capsule range showcases qualities from both brands. Priced between ¥24,150-¥13,650 JPY (approximately $140-$240 USD), the WTAPs x Birdwell collection is available from select WTAPS retailers.
