Running with the ‘concrete jungle’ metaphor is English contemporary specialty brand Tod’s, who has fused contemporary styles with rugged functionality for a new silhouette. Conceived and created in part by Nendo – the award-winning Japanese designer – the Urban Trekker from Tod’s marries the city and country by taking cues from boots and oxfords alike. The upper of the shoe is composed of traditional premium leather, taking the toecap and side panel from formal-leaning silhouetettes. The workwear elements come into play when examining the lacing system, not to mention the rugged traction sole.
