Though the idea has been glorified for some time now, ‘smart’ watches have generally failed to live up to their hyped-up ubiquity within society. Turning the other cheek, Sony has unveiled a new edition of its SmartWatch – the SmartWatch 2. Powered by the ever-popular Android operating system, this sleek number houses phone, text, email and music functionality within a sleek aluminum case. To prevent frequent concerns with electronic wrist pieces, the SmartWatch 2 is designed to be both water and dust-proof, and feature options for either silicone or stainless steel straps. Other speculated highlights include NFC and Bluetooth 3.0 compatibility. While all of these features are attractive, the ultimate popularity contest will arrive in September, upon the SmartWatch 2’s release.
