Italian sportswear label Stone Island has been at the forefront of pioneering technical design over its three-plus decades of existence, having incorporated everything from wind and water resistance to full reflectivity and glow-in-the-dark motifs throughout its seasonal collections of outerwear. The brand’s latest innovation comes in the form of its Spring/Summer 2013 REFLEX MAT designs. Featuring a number of lightweight tried-and-true silhouettes, the collection makes use of a unique matte coating that sees the inclusion of thousands of glass micro spheres on a polyester base – thus creating a new method of reflectivity that is further enriched with the addition of high-saturation coloring agents.
