Man City and Yankees Partner on MLS Team No. 20
Fusing their respective history and riches, Manchester City and the New York Yankees have come
Fusing their respective history and riches, Manchester City and the New York Yankees have come together to form the 20th member of Major League Soccer. Set to take the field as early as 2015, the two have aptly dubbed Gotham’s newest professional sports team the New York City Football Club (NYCFC). Although New York already has one MLS franchise — the Red Bulls — the NYCFC will be the only team with a home in New York itself as opposed to its neighbor New Jersey. Yankees president Randy Levine said of the partnership, “They know how to run a soccer club, we know our way around New York, it is a win-win.” Stay tuned over the next few weeks as the newest MLS member is expected to announce appointments for key positions, in addition to whether the rumors of Queens being its home is true.
