The peachy state of Georgia has been on fire lately, and from 2 Chainz to Two9, the unique aesthetic of the South has been near ubiquitous as of late. Contributing to this is Decatur Dan, a Decatur-based filmmaker who has produced some major work embodying Atlanta’s burgeoning rap scene. Amongst his list of clients are Trinidad Jame$, 2 Chainz and Young Scooter, with more work in the pipeline. Despite his prolificacy though, Dan knows how to party, as evidenced by the things he carries. Here we find practical, though creative tools such as film cameras, camcorders and hard drives countered by more casual articles such as flip-flops, a stack of singles (it is Atlanta, after all), and lighters. The balance between work and play is what has made Decatur Dan so successful, and further makes his items an ideal exploration for this installment of Essentials.
