Daniel Arsham — an American artist known for dream-like gouaches and sculptures — was one of four artists recently commissioned by Louis Vuitton for a line of innovative travel books. Arsham — who illustrated the Easter Island volume — joins Congolese artist Chéri Samba (Paris), Jean-Phillippe Delhomme (New York) and Natsko Seki (London) to tell the stories of these famous cities through books that slot in “‘somewhere between the travel journal and the sketchbook.” Paris’s Galerie Perrotin recently exhibited a selection of drawings from Arsham’s Easter Island book, many of which may be seen here.
