Shwood may be known best for its wooden frames, but the Oregon-based label ventures further into new, natural territory with the Stone Collection for 2013. Debuting with timeless styles that merge precision technology and skilled craftsmanship, the collection features updates of Shwood’s Belmont — with its classic panto-shaped frame and distinct keyhole bridge — and Canby, the label’s original flagship model. For the special collection, the Portland-based label tapped a German engineering firm to combine millimeter-thick slices of slate stone to build the frames. In uniquely rugged, yet lightweight stone makeups, each pair is handmade at the label’s own Portland, Oregon workshop and accompanied by 100% UVA/UVB protection Carl Zeiss lenses imported from Italy.
