Frank Ocean is usually low-key when talking about his music projects, so when he told Zane Lowe of BBC 1 he was about “10, 11 songs” in, that in itself was quite a surprise. Today, the plot thickens – Depeche Mode’s Dave Gahan was recently interviewed by Entertainment Weekly and unveiled that members of Depeche Mode just finished recording a song with Frank. He states:
“We were in the studio in New York, and we were filming and recording some live tracks toward the end of the session. An assistant came up to me in between songs and said, ‘Do you mind? Frank Ocean is here working in another studio and really wants to meet you guys,’” Gahan went on to say, “I wouldn’t have thought he would have even known who we are, but it turns out he’s a big fan.”
He also went on to say,
“Martin and (Depeche Mode/The Knife producer) Christoffer Berg ended up doing a track with him, which I think is going to be part of his new record. Martin did some electronics and some modular synthesizer stuff he really wanted,”
