Having gotten his start designing Myspace layouts with a company he started as a freshman in high school, Cena Barhaghi eventually dropped out of college to pursue his passion for design. In a bold move, the co-founder and creative director of Bay Area-based label Pink + Dolphin started the brand together with Lloyd Omadehbo (aka Young L) back in 2008 during a time when the economy might not have favored a new player entering the streetwear game. Despite that, Barhaghi’s self-taught design skills and entrepreneurial experience — Pink + Dolphin is actually his third venture despite his relatively young age of 22 — helped him propel the brand from a small op formed in his parents’ garage to where it currently enjoys acclaim in both the hip-hop and pro sports worlds as well as across the globe. Presenting to us his lineup of HYPEBEAST Essentials, his appreciation for design and the finer things quickly becomes clear with his various Apple gadgets combined with his small collection of chains, watches and eyewear from the luxury fashion world – an area he also derives inspiration from. His home team representation comes in the form of a toiletry bag, a pair of sunglasses, a six-hat carrier, ghost floatie, a custom 18k gold and diamond necklace, and the keys to Pink + Dolphin’s Fairfax and San Francisco store locations.
