Headed by renown street artist Shepard Fairey and TV producer Nusrat Durrani, Rebel Music is a six-part series looking at the power of music and art in places of conflict — such as Mali, Egypt, Afghanistan, Mexico, the Middle East and India. Each episode focuses on new groups of youth and activists who do little to hold back from their candid feelings in pursuit of change, at times risking their lives for a better future. Here, Fairey and Durrani sit down to chat about why the project was conceived and what Rebel Music looks to achieve in the long run. We also get a glimpse at “The Deuce” — Shepard Fairey’s studio space where screen prints, mixed media pieces and stencil preparations take place. Check out the conversation above and watch an exclusive clip from the premiere here.
