Following last year’s launching of Ralph Lauren’s first ever tourbillon timepiece in the RL167, the iconic clothing brand comes forth with its latest iteration – the Automotive Flying Tourbillon. Drawing inspiration from one of Ralph’s favorite whips – the 1938 Type 57SC Bugatti Atlantic Coupe – this luxury watch is finished with a two later dial that sports elm burlwood as a nod to the retro car, whilst its bottom layer is done up in matte black to show off the flying tourbillon. For the non-horologists, the tourbillon movement manipulates gravity by mounting its escapement and balance wheel in a rotating cage to counterbalance the effect of gravity when stuck in a certain position. The specifications further include a 44.8mm stainless steel casing, tan Superluminova for better timekeeping in the dark, sapphire case back and much more. Though its pricing has yet to be released, our good friends over at HODINKEE suggest the Ralph Lauren Automotive Flying Tourbillon will retail around $80,000 USD.
