HODINKEE and GJ Cleverly Present Rare 227-Year-Old Leather Straps

For HODINKEE‘s latest batch of watch straps it has enlisted the expertise of famed British cobbler GJ Cleverly. These new straps, which are available in 18, 20 and 22mm widths, are made using extremely rare Russian reindeer leather recovered from a 227-year-old shipwreck off the coast of England in the Plymouth Sound. The unique tanning process used to make this kind of leather has unfortunately been lost to history, which makes these straps not only exceedingly rare but also unlikely to be replicated. Each strap features a unique cross-hatch design and a rich brown color, and comes in a special GJ Cleverly box with a certificate of authenticity.
