Snoop Dogg Changes Name (Again) and Announces Album with Dâm-Funk
As we have learned earlier this week, Dâm-Funk and Snoop Dogg have joined forces 7 Days of Funk.
As we have learned earlier this week, Dâm-Funk and Snoop Dogg have joined forces 7 Days of Funk. The pair will bring out their self-titled collaborative LP out December 10 via Stones Throw. We have heard an early preview of this somewhat unlikely crash of creative forces in the shape of their first single “Faden Away.” For this project, Snoop is calling himself Snoopzilla in homage to legendary funk icon Bootsy Collins, aka Bootzilla. The accompanying press release reads:
“We’re the babies of the Mothership,” Snoop said of the collaboration (via a press release). “I’ve had funk influences in my music my whole career. Dâm-Funk is cold. He’s keeping the funk alive and I knew I had to get down with him.”
“Snoop knew what I was thinking without me having to articulate it. That’s how you know when you gel artistically with someone,” said Dâm-Funk. “These beats were made for him and he laid down some of the smoothest harmonies and melodies I’ve ever heard. It’s hip-hop, but you can also hear what we grew up on, from Zapp to Evelyn ‘Champagne’ King and Patrice Rushen.”
Th expected guest list of 7 Days of Funk will include Daz Dillinger, Kurupt, and Steve Arrington.
