Lou Reed Dies at 71

Hailed as a rock legend and music icon, Velvet Underground founder Lou Reed passed away today in Long Island, New York. With over five decades of musical influence, Reed has stood as a prominent figure for youth and alternative culture, amplifying New York’s punk scene and making waves with Velvet Underground and as a solo artist. Although a cause of death is yet to be determined, Reed underwent a liver transplant in May this year and has been faced with health complications since.
