My Panda Shall Fly is the musical project of one Suren Seneviratne, a Sri Lanka-born British musician, artist and photographer. Behind a bushy beard and a signature mess of stringy black hair bunched atop his head, Seneviratne holds a taste of a purposefully vintage rock star within his mind. When it’s not being reflected in deadpan, Wes Anderson-esque videos such as “Opening Brace,” then certainly it can be shown in the 26-year-old’s Essentials. Unlike some artists, My Panda Shall Fly doesn’t seem limited by his title as a modern ‘musician,’ nor the ensuing associations. As such, he features floppy discs, ’90s headphones, round sunglasses, cassette tapes, and a disposable camera – all allusions to the past. Enjoy a contemporary trip down memory lane in the above.
