Since its introduction more than a decade ago, the Anfernee “Penny” Hardaway signature Nike Foamposite One sneaker has been a hit amongst sneakerheads and basketball enthusiasts alike. Its fame can be attributed to various noteworthy factors, but which one of those factors makes this a great shoe? Was it the bold futuristic design of the seamless molded upper? The progressive integration of unique colorways? Maybe it was even the fact that during a time ruled by the Bulls, Penny and Shaq could still hold their own against the Jordan lead team — for many like myself, the value of these sneakers is intangible. Long before shoe release lineups and eBay resellers, the Foamposite One was one of the most expensive basketball shoes on the market, and despite its premium price tag, they still sold.
This brings us to the latest colorway “Fighter Jet.” Set for a February 9 release — 19 if you live in Asia — this fighter aircraft-inspired colorway features a camouflage print of the shades/colors black, grey, white and hyper red. Details include the signature “1 Cent” logo at both heels, a contrasting icy and hyper-red sole, a stunning hyper-red carbon fiber shank, and a pair of limited-edition Penny dog tags.
