Founded in 1981 by Carlo Urbinati and Alessandro Vecchiato, innovative modern lighting design company Foscarini has enlisted the help of renowned Italian designer Giulio Iacchetti for its latest piece, the MAGNETO. Meant to be utilized as a table and reading lamp, the minimalist design utilizes a hidden magnet to join an LED light together with a painted steel support rod and circular base. As a result, the LED can be rotated 360 degrees to provide an intensely concentrated beam of illumination when facing downward or a softly-lit atmosphere when pointing toward the ceiling. Resembling a microphone or torch, the lamp also features a hidden channel to house the power cable, thus furthering the sleek and understated look. Available in either grey or red, the Iacchetti-designed MAGNETO is now available from select Foscarini dealers around the globe.
