The 1948 Olympics were a relatively unmemorable Games for Great Britain, which amassed a whopping three gold medals. Their team uniforms on the other hand, looked good enough that knitwear maestro John Smedley and Umbro Tailored have joined forces to create a unified collection of retro sportswear. The collaboration consists of two pieces: the Tangeru shirt and a navy half-zip sweater. The former, essentially an adaptation of the uniform 1948 runners would have worn, is a three-button, chest-striped henley constructed in a sturdy yet soft, off-white Sea Island Cotton; the garment also comes complete with authentic sporting details such as a blank team chest patch. The latter more closely resembles the off-field clothing of that era; the dark blue, lightweight knit provides the perfect layering piece for blustery stadium winds. Both of these vintage-inspired pieces should be available soon at the collaborators’ online stores.
