On top of serving as the creative director at Hurley where he has since transformed the brand’s retail presence, Isreal Kandarian has long contributed his fair share of work to the industry and racked up an impressive resume in the process. With his profound knowledge of fashion and streetwear, Kandarian along with studio 2×4 has worked with influential brands such as Nike; touching on environmental design, brand strategy, and has even had his hands in large scale projects such as the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics. Having a background in architecture, the saying of measuring twice and cutting once is a reflection of his work philosophy and remains true all the way down to his essentials. His affluence of knowledge in street fashion and industrial design are most present in the prototype footwear pieces he prides himself on — including experimental mash-ups between high and low footwear that influenced the creation of the Cole Haan LunarGrand.
