BEDWIN & THE HEARTBREAKERS 2012 Fall/Winter "I'll Be Your Mirror" Lookbook

Masafumi Watanabe’s label BEDWIN & THE HEARTBREAKERS has been etching out a name for itself lately with its Japanese-constructed, detail-oriented takes on classic American menswear. Always seeking to filter past inspirations through a contemporary lens, and with a slogan proclaiming “paramount quality,”  the designer for this season has created a series of modern, wearable, and often off-beat garments that are the backbone of its Fall/Winter 2012 lookbook. With an emphasis on outerwear, the fall BEDWIN pieces are firmly rooted in the classics but always with elements that are ever so slightly off – the varsity jacket, for example, is fitted with electric blue sleeves, while a traditional duffle coat gets remade with a side-closure. Elsewhere, the rest of the collection is vintage BEDWIN, with a plethora of simple yet unique knits, leather shearling-lined bomber jackets, wovens, suits, and cropped pants that draw upon Americana references and progressive Japanese clothing design and construction. Watanabe describes his ideal man as someone ordinary, but with character, and the new collection certainly provides a “mirror” for that ethos.
