Interesting news from the Wu-Tang Clan arrived to us today. According to Indiewire, the Wu-Tang Clan will play themselves in the Ol’ Dirty Bastard biopic Dirty White Boy, directed by Joaquín Baca-Asay. While it has yet to be officially announced what members will participate in the project, it appears that RZA, Ghostface Killah, Raekwon and Method Man are expected to be featured. However, GZA’s representative stated that the artist formerly known as the Genius will not appear in the film.
“Spoke to GZA today. I will tell you 100% he is not appearing in the ODB / Jarred Weisfeld movie. I can’t speak for the rest of the group, but definitely not true about GZA.”
As previously reported, Michael K. Williams, known for his role as Omar in the critically acclaimed HBO TV series The Wire, will star as the late and great Wu-Tang member Ol’ Dirty Bastard. Explaining the casting decision to the Daily News, Williams said, “[We] have no desire to cast any actors as the Wu-Tang. We need all hands on deck.”
