Dover Street Market to Open In New York
It looks as though Rei Kawakubo is looking to open a Dover Street Market in New York City.

It looks as though Rei Kawakubo is looking to open a Dover Street Market in New York City. Currently, only two of the multi-brand fashion boutiques exist — one in London and one in Tokyo. While an exact location has yet to be specified, Kawakubo is seeking to build the New York DSM in a part of the city not yet associated with fashion, to help revitalize and transform the surrounding area. As always, Kawakubo will be deciding with her instinct; choosing based on the feeling and atmosphere of the area. It wouldn’t be the first time the Japanese designer flexed her immense influence — best evidenced by her openings of COMME des GARCONS stores in then-unknown wards like Aoyama in 1981, and SoHo in 1983. Both of those stores grew their respective areas into fashion, art and cultural epicenters. Where in New York do you think the new DSM store will wind up?
