Alexander Wang has brought his New York retail energy and creativity to China with the opening of the designer’s new flagship store in the heart of Beijing. The new multiple-floored, 565-square-foot store is a sleek architectural delight, designed in collaboration by Wang himself and Paris architect Joseph Dirand. It is filled with raw material elements like marble and blackened bronze, and is outfitted with customized vintage furniture fixtures. Besides Wang’s latest collection, the show floor’s design centerpieces include a massive marble wall cut from a single stone whose patterned features resemble a Rorschach inkblot test, along with a marble staircase sandwiched between a massive mirror and a polished bronze wall.
